I Thought I Had 5 Years to Live: My Long COVID Story
A personal story of Long COVID recovery and the small nervous system practices that helped rebuild health and hope.
At one point in her Long COVID journey, Katie had a sobering thought: Unless something changed, she might only have five years to live.
It didn’t feel dramatic. It simply felt factual. Years of severe symptoms - heart rate spikes, crushing fatigue, brain fog, pain, and sleep disruption - had made daily life incredibly difficult. And the statistics around chronic stress and neurological dysfunction were hard to ignore.
The moment became a turning point. Not because of a dramatic breakthrough, but because it led to a simple decision: focus on what was within her control.
Katie began to research possible solutions, experimenting with small practices that support the nervous system — gentle movements, simple regulation tools, and small daily adjustments.
To her surprise, her body began to respond. Those small shifts gradually created momentum, helping reduce symptoms and restore energy, clarity, and resilience.
Today, she’s able to live a full and active life again. The journey wasn’t quick or linear. But it revealed something important: the body is often more capable of recovery than we realize when we learn how to support it.
If you are navigating Long COVID or nervous system challenges, you may recognize parts of this story. And if you’re in the middle of it, simply getting through the day can take enormous effort. But sometimes meaningful change begins with a decision — and then small steps that help the body move toward regulation and recovery.
