Long COVID Symptom Management
Feedback that leaves us full of gratitude (written 4/28/2024)
We are passionate about our work, but starting up a business comes with challenges and the to-do list can sometimes feel overwhelming. Then, we get feedback that leaves us full of gratitude, a sense of awe and renewed energy.
We are continually inspired by the people who are part of our programs. They come looking for ways to manage Long COVID symptoms, and reduce the impact Long COVID has on their lives. They each take that courageous first step to join a program.
At the early stages in the 12 unit program, people are often feeling unwell and experiencing the ups and downs that come with Long COVID symptoms. We even see that people sometimes need to delay their start, or take a gap for a week or two. Despite this, all are determined to feel better. They commit to taking simple actions that help them to feel better on a daily basis - even when they are uncertain about the longer term impact.
As the weeks move on it is amazing to see how each person weaves these small actions into their days in a way that works for them, and it’s wonderful to see the improvement they experience.
One person said it best in a meeting we had just this week… “I’m putting in the work, but with guidance and support all along the way”. We love this way of describing the process. And we also love the impact they feel - their symptoms have reduced, they have more energy and are able to do more of the things they love. It has also helped them feel more capable in general. “As I’ve been following your program I find myself standing taller, prouder and, most of all, more confident and stronger. You have made such a positive impact on my life and I feel hopeful once again!!”
We know that some people have been hesitant to join the program because the prospect of adding another thing to the to-do list when they already don’t feel at their best can be daunting. Many of the people we work with are managing Long COVID symptoms alongside other commitments, as we describe in our blog post Long COVID Invisible, Lonely and Disabling - but There is Hope. If this is you, we want to let you know that you are not alone, and that other people in a similar position have found benefit in our approach - and found that doing the program has left them with more energy.
Warmly,
Katie & Andrea
