What is your goal for this summer… or next?
As you look ahead, what activities would you normally be looking forward to that you know won’t be happening because of Long COVID? (written 06/09/2024)
It feels like summer is getting into full swing. We were wondering, as you look ahead, what activities would you normally be looking forward to that you know won’t be happening because of Long COVID?
You might be managing the day-to-day with modifications, but sometimes holidays or seasonal changes can drive home that your body isn’t working for you in the way you would like. Things that you would normally be getting ready to do are no longer possible.
This is where Katie has been, and it left her with two questions…
-
Will things ever get better, or will it be like this (or worse) forever?
-
What are the one or two things I wish I could get back to doing the most?
This summer is looking entirely different for her. Last summer, she was rapidly gaining functionality and building a stronger baseline. “Last year, I felt great compared to the previous couple of years of living with Long COVID. I started to feel like myself again. This year, I feel energy levels I thought would never be possible again. I’m able to take on challenges (and deliver) and juggle busy days of work, play, and family with gusto - and enjoy them the way I used to. Over the last 12 months, the gains in health and capabilities have continued - I have my recovery toolkit of simple actions that only take a couple of minutes each day. I can’t wait to see where they take me next.”
Now it’s your turn… how do you feel going into this summer? If you had a magic wand, what would you like to be different going into summer one year from now? The good news is that if you are not where you want to be, there is hope. Improvement is possible. The next question is: How do you find an effective toolkit that will set you on a path to where you want to be?
We have developed an effective, evidence-based program grounded in research about Long COVID, post-infection conditions, and what supports bodies to perform at their best. Our work is also informed by lived experience and learning from our clients. It has been amazing seeing their transformations first hand - including stories of canoe adventures, music, long runs and vacations with friends and family.
We hope the summer brings you everything you hope for. If you think it could bring you more, or you want to be in a different place next June, reach out to see if one of our programs could be a good fit for you.
Warmly,
Katie & Andrea
