Tackling Long COVID and helping people to reduce the impact of symptoms is a complex challenge. Navigating the complexities of Long Covid calls for innovative approaches since COVID is a relatively new disease. The impact symptoms have on people’s lives means that simple and easy solutions are needed so that people impacted by fatigue, brain fog, post exertion crashes and more can still follow a protocol. When Katie started looking for solutions to manage her own Long COVID symptoms, she drew on her knowledge and experience working in the health care system finding ways to improve health outcomes for people with complex health conditions.
The challenge with Long COVID is to find solutions that are evidence based, achievable and effective.
To help develop solutions to support people with Long COVID, we draw on:

evidence from research on COVID, Long COVID and conditions with similar symptoms;

proven methodologies that support problem-solving from innovation and improvement science fields; and

insight from people living with Long COVID about their experience and abilities.
This combination of evidence and problem solving tools helped highlight a range of simple tools and practical solutions available! These tools include eye exercises, mobility activities and breath work — which alleviate Long COVID symptoms in the near term and help people build a foundation for further improvement one small step at a time.
In our latest blog article, The Power of Simple Solutions, we share five effective approaches that support innovative thinking and the development of solutions to manage Long COVID symptoms. The power of little actions can easily be underestimated. Understanding the thinking behind them and experiencing the impact these tools can have can be eye-opening. It provides hope and motivation - in just a few minutes, simple actions like these three tools can help people to manage symptoms in the near term and help reduce them over time.
